A US study found that Firefighters are often subject to noises well above the threshold for hearing damage, and a UK and European study found that Paramedics is the noisiest profession.
Meanwhile, Australian researchers found that hearing loss in the nurses and healthcare sector is 1.5-2 x greater than the public.
Common trends in these roles and sectors are facing multiple factors that exacerbate the problem, including;
- Work-related noise
- Physical trauma
- Daily exposure to mental trauma
- Injuries to the ear or brain
